Dmodot, a Delhi-based firm that creates handcrafted leather footwear, has shown its work at events such as the Lakme Fashion Week.
Abhishek Sharma, 32, from Agra, has always been perplexed as to why designer and high-quality leather shoes are offered at excessive costs in India, despite the fact that the country has its own footwear hubs.
This inspired him to start a business in the footwear sector. In 2014, Abhishek founded dmodot with his pals Suhail Dhaul and Pranav Sawhney, all of whom were in their twenties at the time. The Delhi-based company creates handcrafted leather footwear and sells it at a low cost.
The firm, which began in the boot of a car and now boasts an annual turnover of Rs 1 crore, has also been featured at events such as the Lakme Fashion Week.
Abhishek Sharma was studying engineering in Pune at the time. During this time, he was seeking for shoes, but everything offered on the market was out of his price range. Abhishek had always purchased his footwear in Agra, his hometown and one of the country's top footwear production areas, where he could find reasonably priced footwear.
Later, he returned to his hometown and had a shoe constructed at a reasonable cost. As a result of this, his pals also requested that he have shoes manufactured for them.
